Political Cartoon

1.)Which side of the border is to blame?
2.) Who should be held more responsible for the drug smuggling?  What do they do?
3.)Who do you consider the "Bad Guys"?

I laughed at this one, so I included it; should marijuana be kept legal, due to it's (mostly)harmless, pain-helping, euphoric high and economic stimulation, or na?  Do too many people abuse the substance and the lax access to it where it is, indeed legal?

  1. Liam, how do you connect the first cartoon to some of the themes/big ideas in our first unit?

  2. Mr. Taraborrelli, I guess I was confused with the assignment.. I just took a political issue being dealt with in general in the U.S... I'm actually not exactly sure which issues completely pertain to our first unit. Would it be something like debt, healthcare, or unemployment? Those to me are just issues which are going on now in the United States. The drug trafficking issues interest me specifically, but if they are not relevant enough to our first unit I can find another set of cartoons. I guess I misunderstood, I thought we had more freedom in choosing a political cartoon topic, my appologies.

  3. Although it does relate to how economy of America can be either helped or destroyed by the legallization of this product. As far as the cartoon goes, it addresses the issue of immigration as well as why it can be so closely related to drug smuggling. My connection is also how easily politicvs can change to the "blame game", where nobody can win.
